Joel Cheeseman opens a whole can of worms with this idea. Interesting in the least, it could definitely slow down the amount of resume spam people get. You could compare the idea to people having to put a stamp on a letter to send their CV in the past. A lot of people would just stop applying and in my opinion that is a good thing. I run a search firm but we do advertise jobs as a matter of course although we don't fill as many jobs from advertisements as we do from search. I do find though, that the better the job the more applications we get from people who are trying their luck. Posting an Asia Pacific Sales Director role is an invite for a million applications. I don't blame these people but it takes an enormous amount of time to screen and process these applications. I can only imagine it being worse for large firms on direct advertisements.
