Dan Salter at New Zealand's funniest IT Recruitment firm's usually quiet blog, has started to deliver their latest jobs by podcast. The podcasts are nice and short and give updates on jobs that they don't have full job descriptions on yet. I think it is a really nice idea; especially for those candidates who prefer to listen rather than read. Although a lot of people will think podcasting is a fad, I think there is something much warmer about listening to details about something than just reading it. Dan has a great voice and I hope he keeps them up, it differentiates him from his competitors in a very busy market.
Thanks for the feedback on the new show! I'm a big podcast fan myself hence the initiative and I hope many more take it up so spread the word!

Hi Steven - I have just listened to your Recruiting in Japan podcast in Jim Stroud's Recruiter's Lounge - it was really interesting stuff. I was one of those people that always thought of the whole podcast thing as a bit of a fad that would fade - however after listening to some of the range of podcasts on Jim Stroud's site I have become an advocate - damn you Steven, you have me hooked! I think it appeals to my learning style. Good on IT Maniacs - I can see it as a good way to cement a regular dialogue with candidates. There is a lot of talk at the moment about attracting and retaining Gen Y candidates/employees and I think this is another strategy to capture this audience in general and not just an IT audience - and hey you have the flexibility to have the jobs played on high rotation on your iPod.
